Why German Cheese?
Well, it wasn't an easy decision but a worthwhile question to ask ourselves. As a company that has spent the last 11 years championing British Cheese, and as an owner who has "Eat More British Cheese" tattooed on his arm, it's fair to say that British Cheese has been an integral part of our brand story. We’ll forever be huge advocates for the industry that has nurtured and supported us since day one.
That said, at the heart of our brand is a desire to engage people with cheeses that are made close to them, and promote cheesemakers who we feel deserve more recognition. It's about championing passionate people who produce thoughtfully and make delicious cheeses locally to our restaurants, simple as that.
Naturally, being based in the UK, that’s been British Cheese. However when we decided to open a site in Berlin, it felt disingenuous of us to promote that same British cheese which is far from local to Germany!
So German cheese it is and, to be honest, we've loved every minute of discovering a new cheese culture. Eating our way across Berlin and trying every local cheese we could get our hands on is far from a chore!
